I am a portrait photographer first and foremost and provide lifestyle and studio photography. My lifestyle photography involves getting out and about or simply visiting you at home to capture natural photographs of your children, you as a family and even your newborn baby. I love the outdoors and we've got great outdoor spaces in the East of England to enjoy during a majority of the year so if you want a relaxed portrait session at the beach, your favourite beauty spot or in your back garden, drop me a line.
For when the weather turns I produce studio photographs at a well equipped studio I share with a fellow photographer. It's warm, has a comfy sofa and is the perfect place for baby, toddler and family photography particularly in the winter months.
I strive for quality in my images and prefer to provide my clients with display products that are bespoke utilising the finest suppliers to give you high quality products. I supply a range of products from personalised dvd's of images to handmade framed prints.

Services
My family photography and portrait photography includes, maternity, couples, baby shoots, young family and extended family sessions. I shoot "at home" shoots at client's homes and holiday homes. I head outdoors for "on location" sessions at beaches, woods and parks. I send out photography gift "vouchers" for photo shoots to be given to friends and family members and I also cover family "events" such as christenings, birthdays and reunions.
The family photography and portrait photography that I provide falls into four main categories. The first and largest proportion of my work is "on location" outdoor shoots which can be at a beach, out in the woods or at a park. These shoots are really relaxed and make the most of the natural scenery, chances to explore, and allow you to have a walk which naturally helps with any nerves. They also allow some members of the party to expend any extra energy they may have and are therefore really good for families with young children.
I've always loved the outdoors and appreciate it even more when I get to see how much more relaxed we are when we're walking through a wood, on a beach, or just messing around in a garden. I think without doubt that portrait sessions outdoors usually are the best option for young children and a tonic for most adults.
I normally send out a small questionnaire before your shoot asking a few questions, such as who am I photographing, who needs/wants to be photographed with whom, how old is everyone (roughly), who's most awake in the morning and who likes a nap in the afternoon? This helps me try to learn people's names prior to a session, which is really helpful when you need to ask someone quickly to sweep the hair out of their eyes etc. As per where? As a business we were so lucky to find Phil Barnes Photography. Not only is Phil a tremendous photographer, he's also unfailingly kind, patient, friendly and has a cracking sense of humour. As a small boutique holiday let business, we needed to replace all my 'iphone' photos of our properties with proper 'hotel standard' internal and external shots with the 'wow' factor ready for our new website and also for our Airbnb pages.

Phil photographed us with our 18 mo daughter at Wells. The whole experience has been amazing - Phil is personable (and very good with kids!) allowing us to relax and explore with not too many prompts. We had such a good time - and he spent over 2 hours with us with no rushing (which is good with a 18 mo old!). And the end result is amazing! Photos to cherish for years so THANK YOU!

Phil is both a fantastic photographer but a genuinely great chap! Do not underestimate the importance of having a cool calm and experienced photographer for your big day, he will probably be the person you spend the most amount of time with! Our day would not have been as special without him there. What we didn't expect was the guidance and help he gave us throughout the day, little things you could never plan for, but with his wealth of experience he guided us through.
Nothing was too much trouble, he was genuinely excited when he found a 'good spot' for a photo or captured a great moment. He stayed longer and worked harder than we could ever have imagined. Prompt, smart, professional throughout, and like a master of his art sneaking effortlessly within our marquee without being noticed. Book him, you will not be disappointed!

Phil is a talented photographer. His candid reportage style shots captured the atmosphere of our wedding, allowing us to relive it time and time again. Those who'd seen the finished result said they felt like they were there. He kept calm and cheerful, which is so important on this kind of day. One of my favourite photos is one I wasn't sure I wanted on the day but we put our trust in Phil and are so glad we did. I still can't get over how great the photos are. Surpassed my expectations and would recommend Phil highly for any special occasion.

Seriously cannot recommend Phil more. Our wedding photos were fantastic and Phil worked so hard all day. In fact, I don't think he stopped. He managed to capture every moment from getting ready to the drunken dancing. A lot of my guests commented how hard he worked. His manner is polite and friendly, leading to some really good pics. We went for a more reportage style and it worked really.
The pictures came on a very stylish (and slightly James Bond style) pen drive. If you are having a Norfolk/Suffolk wedding (or even further a field) he's definitely the man for the job!

Phil, thanks for capturing our wedding, allowing us to relive the day. Everyone loved the pier shots, which were more posed, but Graham and my personal favourites were the reportage shots. The only thing is there are so many great shots I'm having trouble narrowing them down for our album! I would not hesitate to use you again.

We are absolutely chuffed to bits with the photos Phil took for us recently. We convinced him to drive a very long way, and he was with us for nearly the whole day! He took photos of our daughter (8 months old) and us around our house and outside on our farm. It was so relaxed and wonderful to have photos taken in our own environment because it felt like he captured us as we really are. Each photo is a real treasure. I chose Phil Barnes to do my newborn son's first photoshoot and I couldn't be happier with the photos. He was very patient with my baby- even gave him time to have a nap in the middle of the shoot! The photos are beautiful and they arrived on DVD, wonderfully presented in a personalized case and 'Phil Barnes photography' box. I would definitely recommend Phil for family photoshoots!

Phil is such a find! He is the perfect family photographer, so friendly and personable that my kids considered him one of the group 15 mins into our 2 hour session. We had massive family get together and Phil worked so hard to get all the shots we wanted including some very rare family shots with my camera shy 4 year old. And the results were beautiful, relaxed photos, we had difficult light on the day but you wouldn't know that from the pictures! I couldn't recommend Phil enough!
