ALLAN WILLIAMSON

I have had over 36 years experience in Press Photography with the Lichfield and Rugeley Mercury Series, the Journal Magazine, and other titles at Central Independent Newspapers including the Tamworth Herald, Sutton Observer and Walsall Advertiser, in my role as their Group Chief Photographer. During that time I received nearly 40 National and Regional Photography Awards for my work, including winning the Newspaper Society's Free Newspaper Press Photographer of the Year for all of the UK Gold Award four times and in 2008 I was thrilled to win both the Best News and Sport Gold Photography Awards.

I have covered a wide range of Press photography assignments over the years such as Royal visits, news, sport and features. I have photographed features in Cyprus on Staffordshire soldiers serving with the United Nations Peacekeeping Force, and in London photographing local Bangladeshi Businessmen meeting the Princess Royal at the Overseas Institute plus features on local M.P's at Westminster. I have done jobs around the country such as features for the Journal Magazine at Southampton on the new Cunard Liners Queen Mary 2, and Queen Victoria, and the Pand O Cruise Ship Arcadia. I also photographed local RNLI fundraisers when they visited the lifeboat station at Holyhead on the Isle of Anglesey, North Wales.

In 2003 the Lichfield Press published my book of photographs entitled Moments in Time celebrating my then 30 years at the Lichfield Mercury Newspaper, with the foreword very kindly written by the late Lord Lichfield.

I am now working as a Freelance and offer high quality work at a reasonable price, covering Weddings Press, PR / Corporate, Proms and Balls, Special Events, Portraits, etc.

Over the past months I have covered Photo assignments for British Gas, the Forestry Commission, the British Consul and Pakistan Education Department, the Express and Star Newspaper Group, McInerney Homes, Stafford Borough Council, Lichfield District Council, Cannock District Council, Wyevale and Blooms Garden Centres, St. Giles Hospice, Acorns Hospice, the Greenfingers Charity, Robert Broad Travel and Local Schools etc.
